GEM Primary Healthcare, LLC
WHERE ALL OF OUR CLIENTS ARE PRECIOUS
DOT EXAMS
GEM prides itself as being a FMCSA approved DOT Medical Examiner Office. We will examine you and make sure you are fit for duty as a CMV truck driver. If there is an issue, we will work with you to get you back on the road.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) was
established within the Department of Transportation on January 1,
2000, pursuant to the Motor Carrier Safety Improvement Act of
1999 (49 U.S.C. 113). Formerly a part of the Federal Highway
Administration, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's
primary mission is to prevent commercial motor vehicle-related
fatalities and injuries.
The National Registry of Medical Examiners was created to
enhance CMV driver health and reduce highway crashes. As
a medical examiner, I am licensed, certified and registered in
accordance with applicable State laws and regulations to perform
physical examinations. I understand the FMCSA physical
qualification requirements, the demands of commercial driving,
driver tasks, and the work environment which enables me to
determine driver medical fitness for duty.
All commercial drivers must be examined by a medical
professional listed on the National Registry of Certified
Medical Examiners. Commercial drivers must complete and
pass the DOT physical exam if you:
- Operate a motor vehicle for interstate commerce with a gross combination weight rating, gross vehicle weight rating, or gross combination weight over 10,000 pounds
- Operate a motor vehicle designed to carry more than 15 people
- Get paid to operate a motor vehicle designed to carry over eight people
- Transport hazardous materials requiring vehicle placarding
